Don’t think I’m crazy, but I think part of my mood lately is because of the crazy effing weather.
Have ya’ll seen the news ????
Anyone wanna help me build an Ark???
Luckily other than having to deal with rain every single day for the past 2 million days, the floods haven’t directly affected me and my house. The town I live in sets on a hill … and I will be foreverly grateful for that fact.
To my East, it’s flooded so bad that the Army Corp of Engineers exploded part of the levee last night to make a new LAKE to help relieve some of the pressure on the Mississippi. And to try to keep Cairo, Illinois from being completely swept away.
To me it’s a lose-lose-lose situation … but I definitely understand why it had to be done. If they didn’t do it, SO many people would have lost their homes and businesses. SO many. But since they DID do it, SO many farmers lost their fields and still, some people lost their houses.
I live 50 miles from where the explosions were. I watched it live on the Internet and then 3 or 4 minutes LATER our house shook like we were having an Earthquake. LOUD and HARD.
Have I mentioned that they blew this levee ON THE NEW MADRID FAULT LINE ?!?
Ever heard of it ???? WHOA!
I’m more worried about waking that sleeping monster UP. Especially when we have all of this water and other conditions going on.
Video … of them blowing the Levee. Not much to SEE … but still …
Here are some pictures the news posted to Facebook of that the new “Lake” looks like this morning now that the Levee was blown. *Sigh* So sad. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/fbx/?set=a.10150168846972602.301026.76229602601
They’re currently doing MORE blasts to open up the other side of the new Lake so the water can get back on it’s path of running down river.
To my West, our (real) Lake has flooded over the Dam, over the Spillway and over everything else in it’s path.
Smaller towns around me are being evacuated. People are losing their homes. Schools are closed. And it’s just SAD.
Video of the Lake … Please note everywhere you SEE water … there shouldn’t BE water. Where it looks like small waterfalls = Highway washed away.
And finally THIS is from my town. A friend of ours has a quick shop uptown. The old gas tanks that are no longer used … decided to make an appearance in his parking lot over the weekend.
