It’s Friday … I’m in Love ♥
2012
♫ I don't care if Monday's blue ~ Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too ~ Thursday I don't care about you ~ It's Friday, I'm in love~ Monday you can fall apart ~ Tuesday, Wednesday break my heart ~ Oh, Thursday doesn't even start ~ It's Friday I'm in love ♫
Last night was my first (real) attempt at sitting down and learning me some Photoshop skills. Yeah. I don’t know why I find it impossible to wrap my brain around anything when it comes to that stuff … but I do.
My problem last night was the fact that the entire family was home and they were all watching a movie with the VOLUME UP SO LOUD THAT I COULDN’T HEAR MYSELF THINK! Ugh. I hate that. So I’m gonna sit down and try again this weekend when I have some alone time.
All I really want to do is make my pictures pretty. I don’t feel the need (yet) to be able to master all of the amazing graphic stuff that the program can do. My plan is just to sit down and start following some of the online tutorials step-by-step. Download some Actions and yeah … trial and error baby.
I’m also excited because I got my hands on Lightroom 3 and should be receiving it in the mail next week. Anxious to play with that and see if that makes more sense to me. We shall see.
In other news, I started a new book yesterday.
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
I’m only on Chapter 2 but I can tell that it’s going to be my new favorite book. I’m really excited about it.
It ranks up there with Eat, Pray, Love !!!!
I’m in Love with her 12 Commandments for herself.
(I will be making my own personalized commands in the very near future. But for now I’m borrowing hers.)
1. Be
GretchenLC
2. Let it Go
3. Act the way I want to feel
4. Do it now
5. Be polite and be fair
6. Enjoy the process
7. Spend out
8. Identify the problem
9. Lighten up
10. Do what ought to be done
11. No calculation
12. There is only LOVE
Gretchen has also listed her “Secrets of Adulthood” … again I’m borrowing her list and will be tweaking a version for myself and hopefully doing something creative with the list (paint-markers-??) and hanging it in my office at home.
People don’t notice your mistakes as much as you think.
It’s okay to ask for help.
Most decisions don’t require extensive research.
Do good, feel good.
It’s important to be nice to everyone.
Bring a sweater.
By doing a little bit each day, you can get a lot accomplished.
Soap and water remove most stains.
Turning the computer on and off a few times often fixes a glitch.
If you can’t find something, clean up.
You can choose what you do; you can’t choose what you like to do.
Happiness doesn’t always make you feel happy.
What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while.
You don’t have to be good at everything.
If you’re not failing, you’re not trying hard enough.
Over-the-counter medicines are very effective.
Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
What’s fun for other people may not be fun for you – and vice versa.
People actually prefer that you buy wedding gifts off their registry.
You can’t profoundly change your children’s natures by nagging them or signing them up for classes.
No deposit, no return.
Aren’t those all so true ???
Anyway. I can’t wait to get through the book and start a Happiness Project of my own. Focus on one specific area of my life every month. Make resolutions and small changes that will add up to a happier, more productive ME !!!
