Day 6 – Why I’m Obsessed with Turtles
2010
Day 6 – A photo of an animal you’d love to keep as a pet.
In 2005 we took the kiddos to Myrtle Beach. We left with 4 living things in the car … and came home with 8. Heavy two frogs and two turtles.
The frogs quickly made their way to froggie heaven. RIP little 1/2 inch frogs.
The turtles on the other hand … stuck around for years and were the best pets in the whole world. I loved them. I loved them as much as I love my little blind doggie Drew.
They grew … they went from the size of half dollars to the size of desert plates!
And the myth that turtles are SLOW creatures … is a LIE. Those suckers were FAST!
Sadly, both of our turtles ran away from home while playing in the yard. We use to let them “play” in the mud in the yard. They would bury themselves and chill out there for hours. We let them do it all the time while we cleaned out their tank. Until one day, they were just gone. We searched for hours and never found them.
Ever since then, I’ve been obsessed with turtles. Every time we go to the beach now, I bring home a decorative turtle to add to my collection on top of my dresser in my room. But, mark my word, one day I will bring home the real thing again. My turtles were my favorite pets of all time.

I remember the turtles. Burt and Ernie?? But we called them Crackhead and Pothead (or Stoner?) ?? Something like that !!
I loved those little guys, then they turned into BIG little guys!!!
Miss them
*Sigh*
Crackhead and Burnout.
Bless their hearts.
I miss my little Crackhead (he was my fave yanno) and his circus flips he could do on the counter.
Those were the days.
Burnout .. that’s right. I was close !!!!
Crackhead was my favorite too
