If you’re looking for a ray of sunshine ???? Turn away now. Yesterday sucked and there is NO way to not be bitchy and annoying about it. I’m sure tomorrow will be better, but today … doesn’t feel so great still. And welcome to my normal writing style. The way I write when I email back and forth with my friends during the day. In fact this WAS an email to a friend. I just altered it a bit for Internet purposes.

I honestly thought nothing could go wrong on Valentine’s Day! It is after all the day of LOVE ♥

FIRST my Son was texting a friend about Supercross (motorcycle stunt thing that we went to last year and he asked to go again this year for his Birthday). It’s coming up on March 3rd and they were asking what Section we were sitting in …
Well I have no clue … so I login to Ticketmaster to check … and
I HAVE NO UPCOMING EVENTS SCHEDULED! Wha ????

So I start pulling up credit card statements and searching for email confirmations and THERE ARE NONE.

So I guess when I ordered the tickets (2 months ago) it didn’t go through and I just clicked out and didn’t notice.
EFF ME!

So … I had to go on one of those resale sites and pay more for decent seats so my kid wouldn’t be in the nosebleed section on his Birthday. ((PLUS SIDE … I went ahead and bought pit passes (which I hadn’t done before) because I’m DYING to meet Carey Hart and he was there last time. Soooo fingers CROSSED!!!))

After I stressed the hell out about that … we went to eat Mexican for Valentine’s Day.
We sat there for 47 minutes before they even took our order. YEAH!
Definitely would have left … but they had already brought the Margaritas … and dammit … I needed Tequila in a bad way.

AFTER we finally ordered …. it took 23 more minutes to get our food.
We watched table after table be seated …order … get their food … eat … and leave … before we even took a bite.
FRUSTRATING.

Got home … and “The SKUNKS” had sprayed our entire neighborhood. SO awful.
We have a family of 6 or 7 skunks .. literally a Daddy, Mommy and lots of babies that ARE NOT shy. I literally pass them walking down the middle of the road … or through my front yard … and they just act like they’re the neighborhood pets or something. SO strange.

THEN I decided I needed to book our hotel room for Supercross.
SonChild was already irritated because I messed up on the tickets. (I was freaking irritated as well!)
So he has a particular hotel that he wanted to stay at … cause he had some other friends staying there already and guess what …. SOLD OUT for that night.
Ugh.
So I start looking for other downtown hotels … and they. Are. All. Sold. Out. and I’m. Freaking. Out. and pretty much wanted to scream by that point.
Thank the heavens for friends.
After much texting and calling and whining and freaking out … a friend got us the hook up for a sweet hotel very close to the venue and everything finally worked out.
AFTER 20 percent of my hair turned grey …
But worked out none the less.

Icing on the cake ????
The Husband and I had an argument before bed.

Ugh.
Happy Effing Valentine’s Day to me huh.

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I’m a BIG fan of “I Love Yous.” BIG! HUGE! There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t tell my Husband and both of my kids “I Love You” multiple times a day. Those are the last words when any of us goes through the door to leave … the last words before we hang up the phone … the last words before we go to sleep … and a few extra times per day just for good measure. So I think it’s safe to say that the words …”I Love You”…are three of my favorite words EVER!

So through those words together with HEARTS! and PINK! and FLOWERS! and CANDY! and mushy CARDS! = this girl in HEAVEN! Can’t wait !!!

I text’d this picture to my Husband this morning … I thought it was cute.

SO. After my last post, I decided that I HAD to attempt flower dying … like RIGHT THEN! At 5:15pm on a Monday evening. NOW! NOT LATER! EIK! But being from Small Town USA the only place open that might have the flowers I needed was Walmart. Yeah. So I crossed my fingers and headed across town.

They didn’t have white roses. They had RED roses, but I was pretty sure that wouldn’t work for what I had planned. So I got bummed…sad face and everything. Until I looked to my left and noticed these pretty little WHITE daisies. Whee! I thought … THOSE will work. At least for my first attempt.

Funny (weird) story! On my way to Walmart I called The Husband and asked him if he knew where I could get those tubes they put on flower stems to hold water … or test tubes … or anything else small like that to put my food coloring in. There was a pause … and then he said … you’ve GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME???!!! I was all … huh ??? And he told me that they had JUST got a car in from the auction that had unopened CASES of medical supplies including … plastic test tubes! SCORE! What are the chances of THAT happening on the very same day I needed them.

So home I went.
Test tubes..CHECK.
Flowers…CHECK.
Food coloring … hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I THOUGHT I had some. DANGIT!
(Turns out I DID end up finding it, in a strange random place, but it took quite a bit of looking and wasn’t exactly what I wanted.)
Why can’t things just be easy ???? lol

So I did six different colors.
Purple.
Pink.
Yellow.
Green.
Blue.
Red.

I didn’t try to split the stems (like I WILL DO when I dye roses). I just stuck one “bunch” of daisies into each tube. With 3 or 4 daisies on each stem, I didn’t know how it would work with multiple colors so I just didn’t mess with it.

The purple and pink … DID NOT WORK.
I only had those colors in GEL food coloring. And while I put quite a bit of the gel in very little water and shook the hell out of it … it just wouldn’t go up the stem. Sad face.

The red turned out to be baby pastel pink … because I was almost out and only had a few drops to use.
The yellow … same thing.

But the Blue and the Green…Turned my flowers BRIGHT blue and green. YAY! I love them!

I’m really excited to get my hands on some white roses ASAP. I’m going to get some new BRIGHT VIBRANT food coloring and this time I’ll use more food coloring …. and I’ll let them stay in the dye a little longer than just overnight. And with the roses, I’m definitely going to split the stem so that each flower will have several colors instead of just one.

Regardless of the fact that they didn’t turn out exactly how I pictured in my mind … I’m still VERY happy with the outcome. And it gave me a reason to take some damn pictures with the camera that I’ve been neglecting a little too long.

First and foremost I want to acknowledge that the picture above is not mine. I didn’t take it. I found it while browsing the greatest site known to man (Pinterest) and just HAD to share.

Alls I have to say … is HOW freaking COOL is THIS!?!?!?!?!?!?! Lately I have a strange fascination with color..and rainbows..and anything bright and cheery. I have an entire Board on Pinterest devoted to my “Color Addiction.” So when I saw these roses I IMMEDIATELY knew that I was going to have to try to “grow” some of my own. Now, this may be (much) easier said that done. Main reason being, I have NO green thumb skills whatsoever.

I’m assuming that I would start with a white rose ???
Or maybe I should start with yellow ???
And do I try to split the stem long enough to have it dipped in different colors all at the same time ???
Or split it only an inch or two and do one color at a time ???
I wonder if I should do it with the rose(s) in a refrigerator ??? To keep them from getting droopy ???
Or in sunlight ???
And how the heck long does it take to get them that bright ???
I just have so many questions.

I’m quite tempted to go to the store after work and buy the supplies necessary to learn how … by trial and error. I’ll be sure to take pictures and report back how it turns out.
